Manual therapy focuses on treatment of the musculoskeletal system and can be performed in a variety of different methods. Here are a few examples of manual therapy treatment methods used at RYSE Chiropractic in Moss Bluff, LA (Lake Charles area).
Our Manual Therapy Treatment Techniques
Vibracussor™
A deep percussion device that aids in muscle relaxation and fascia release. Our doctor will adjust the frequency for your specific condition to ensure you get the maximum benefits. This therapy provides rapid pressure to the myofascial system to help decrease pain, relax the musculature, speed up muscle recovery and break down adhesions. The vibrations from percussive massage therapy travel deep in the body to provide a therapeutic effect both at the surface of the skin and deep within tissues.
INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION (IASTM) THERAPY
Our doctor is certified in both FAKTR and RockBlade. These therapies include treatment utilizing metal instruments with a variety of shapes to treat the myofascial system of the body. Often times the myofascial system can get adhesions and trigger points which can sometimes be painful and cause limited range of motion of joints. IASTM is a very effective treatment method for many musculoskeletal conditions in the body.
CUPPING THERAPY
Cupping therapy is an ancient technique that has been modernized and is used to treat many musculoskeletal conditions in the body. Cupping therapy works by creating a suction on the skin which helps to decrease pain, speed up tissue recovery, provide a decompressive effect to the surrounding tissues, and increase blood flow. There are two methods of cupping used in our practice, static and dymanic.
Static Cupping - While this treatment method is performed, the cups are placed on the skin and remain stationary throughout the treatment. This method is usesful when a targeted treatment is preferred.
Dynamic Cupping - While this treatment method is performed, the cups are placed on the skin and are moved around the tissue to treat a larger surface area and help break down adhesions in the myofascial system. Often times this treatment method is used while the patient performs ranges of motion or exercises to help increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR) THERAPY
Myofascial release therapy uses pressure and stretching techniques to help release trigger points and other myofascial dysfunctions within the musculoskeletal system. Trigger points are stiff areas of muscle within the myofascial system that are not functioning properly and can often be detected by the doctors palpation during an examination. Trigger points can cause pain and restricted range of motion in the area they are located. Myofascial release therapy is very effective in releasing trigger points and restoring proper range of motion caused by dysfunction of the myofascial system.
