Experience Comfortable, Non-invasive Laser Therapy
Laser therapies have significantly impacted treatment for various conditions. Laser therapy facilitates treatment procedures with less pain, swelling, and scarring than conventional surgery and treatment options. Fortunately, things are only continuing to improve. The more advanced Class IV laser therapy is a newer, more powerful, and up-to-date laser therapy redefining treatment providing pain relief and anti-inflammation capabilities.
This article gives a detailed review of class IV laser therapy, what it is, who it is suitable for, the conditions it treats, what makes it your preferred treatment option, and why you should consider getting the procedure from RYSE Chiropractic.
What's Class IV Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy uses specific red and infrared wavelengths to transmit light to stimulate processes within the body to create therapeutic effects – less pain, swelling, inflammation, and muscle spasms. Different laser therapy types include Class I, II, III, and Class IV, depending on the power. Class III, "cold," or low-level laser therapy, is the most common and widely used. But, class IV is gaining popularity with clinicians and is more effective than Class III.
Unlike low-power lasers, Class IV laser therapy causes photobiomodulation using a high-powered laser to deliver specific wavelengths of light deep within tissues creating therapeutic effects and helping the body heal more effectively. It's more powerful than class III lasers and can penetrate the body deeper and provide a larger dose, making it more effective in treating most nerves, muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments.
Class IV laser provides a more effective alternative to invasive surgical procedures and relieves pain for patients with acute and chronic conditions. The procedure reduces inflammation as more energy and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is supplied to the injured cells, enhancing energy absorption and toxin elimination. With Class IV, you can quickly recover.
Who Is Class IV Laser Therapy Good For?
Class IV laser therapy is suitable for all individuals, men and women of all skin color, ages, sizes, and abilities, with injuries to the neuromusculoskeletal system. Professional athletes greatly benefit from this therapy type since it facilitates quick and painless recovery.
You can also combine Class IV laser therapy with other treatment options such as soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, chiropractic adjustments, electrotherapy, and massage. Class IV laser therapy can also be a great option if you've just come out of surgery.

How Many Treatments are Needed?
For most acute conditions (severe and sudden onset) we recommend 6 treatments. These treatments require 3-10 minutes per session. We recommend receiving these treatments daily with no more than 2 days between sessions. The effects of laser therapy are cumulative.
For most chronic conditions (persistent and long-lasting), we recommend 10-12 treatments. These treatments require 3-10 minutes per session. We recommend receiving these treatments 2-3 times per week with no more than 4 days between sessions.
For neuropathic conditions (such as diabetic neuropathy), we recommend a minimum of 16 treatments. Neuropathic treatments require 20-30 minutes per treatment session. Read more about neuropathy here.
Once we've reached maximum medical improvement, we recommend maintenance sessions at least 1-2 times per month for all conditions.
How are Laser Treatments Sold?
We sell laser treatments in packages. While single laser therapy sessions can be purchased, we do not recommend buying a single session unless you've received prior authorization from our chiropractor. Laser treatments are cumulative, and for optimal results, we recommend completing a treatment plan. Our packages are sold based upon current research and clinical data. We sell packages of 6 or 10 treatments. Treatment packages must be used within 1 year of the purchase date.
A single treatment session is called a "booster" session. Booster sessions are perfect for once you've completed your treatment package and only need one or a few more treatments. Booster sessions are also great for maintenance visits.
Can I Come in for Laser Treatment Without Chiropractic Care?
Yes. Often we recommend other treatments in addition to laser therapy, such as manual therapy or spinal decompression. However, laser treatments can be provided without additional treatments. An examination by our chiropractor is required before laser treatment to evaluate your condition and develop a treatment plan.
