What is Activator?
Activator is a great alternative to manual adjustments that your chiropractor may use depending on your body type and preferences. It is a powerful tool that is capable of delivering varying amplitudes of specific thrusts. By delivering the thrusts (or adjustments) using this tool, we are able to deliver adjustments in a more comfortable manner. Activator is similar to another therapy we offer called ArthroStim. ArthroStim delivers the thrusts in rapid succession while Activator only delivers one thrust at a time.
Who can benefit from Activator?
With the reduced amount of force that Activator delivers, it allows our chiropractors to adjust a wider range of patients who may not be a candidate for manual adjustments. Those who especially benefit include:
- Young patients
- Elderly patients
- Patients in excess pain
- Patients who do not like manual adjustments or the "popping" sound
- Patients who are sensitive to manual adjustments
- When certain adjustments to the extremities can not be performed manually
Activator vs ArthroStim
Activator delivers one thrust at a time (which may be the goal of the treatment) where ArthroStim is capable of delivering 12-14 thrusts per second. In general, ArthroStim gives the chiropractor greater effectiveness and efficiency during treatment. However, the treatment may not require a large volume of thrusts. For example, certain facial structures may require the gentle and precise delivery that Activator can deliver.
